COOKIE DOUGH
SNACK BAR
i went to dinner with my sister and her friend teresa a little while ago and forgot to post. we debated over which of our usual favorite restaurants to go to and finally decided to try a new place. the "snack bar" was just the breath of fresh air we needed. the snack bar offers an intimate atmosphere, good food, and an attentive staff. first we cozied up to the bar for drinks while waiting for our table. once seated we were pleasantly surprised by the menu options. though the snack bar has several "snack" options they also have carefully chosen entree options made from seasonal ingredients. I had the beet salad and the mushroom gnocchi but i also shared some cheeses with the girls [a manchego and a triple cream, sooo delicious]. as much as you love your favorite restaurant it is always nice to try a new place!
PROCRASTINATION
SHAMELESS
vashtie had her birthday dinner at the place where i had my birthday dinner two years ago. i am shamelessly admitting that i feel pretty cool about that hahaha

BURGERS
there are three new burger restaurants in philadelphia. needless to say i am probably going to gain three pounds as a result. the first place, named 500 degrees, is an offshoot of the popular hotspot rouge [known for their "rouge burger"]. while the burgers served at 500 degrees are considerably smaller than those served at rouge, they are just as delicious. the tiny patties are topped with butter lettuce and tucked between brioche buns. I ordered mine with truffle fries and a black and white milkshake. while 500 degrees takes a rather gourmet approach to fast food, bobby flay's new restaurant "bobby's burger palace" focusses on re-seasoning the old classics. bobby offers large patties oozing cheese on traditional sesame seed buns and allows patrons to choose from revamped condiments like chipotle ketchup. bobby also jazzes up traditional milkshakes by adding alcohol [try the vanilla caramel bourbon]. I havent had a chance to visit stephen starr's square burger yet but im sure it will be just as innovative and delicious as bobby's and 500 degrees.

TACO TUESDAY
CONCERTS
j and i went to 2 concerts last week. the first was pharrell and girl talk. girl talk totally blew pharrell out of the water [sorry skateboard p]. i loved girl talk live, he was so into the music and everyone was dancing. he also had a super trippy psychedelic slideshow of floating fruit and flying babies playing behind him. the second concert was snoop dogg and kid cudi. kid cudi was kind of weird live [i dont recommend seeing him in concert] but snoop did not disappoint. j and i literally squealed with excitement as he sauntered on stage. to our delight his hair was braided and tied up with gold ballballs. he performed old classics [gin and juice, what's my name, the next episode etc.] and a few songs from his new cd malice and wonderland- which has a permanent place as disc 4 in my truck because i loveeeeee him. he is one of the only gangsta rappers who successfully bounces between talking about killing people and talking about sex in the same verse.
