BURGERS
there are three new burger restaurants in philadelphia. needless to say i am probably going to gain three pounds as a result. the first place, named 500 degrees, is an offshoot of the popular hotspot rouge [known for their "rouge burger"]. while the burgers served at 500 degrees are considerably smaller than those served at rouge, they are just as delicious. the tiny patties are topped with butter lettuce and tucked between brioche buns. I ordered mine with truffle fries and a black and white milkshake. while 500 degrees takes a rather gourmet approach to fast food, bobby flay's new restaurant "bobby's burger palace" focusses on re-seasoning the old classics. bobby offers large patties oozing cheese on traditional sesame seed buns and allows patrons to choose from revamped condiments like chipotle ketchup. bobby also jazzes up traditional milkshakes by adding alcohol [try the vanilla caramel bourbon]. I havent had a chance to visit stephen starr's square burger yet but im sure it will be just as innovative and delicious as bobby's and 500 degrees.
