CAPUCCI

i went to an early morning event with my mom at the philadelphia museum of art today. it was geared to create a buzz about their upcoming roberto capucci exhibit and they served bellinis [my favorite brunch drink] and mini bagels with lox. i interned at the museum during highschool so im really familiar with their vast textiles department and i was also a big fan of the schiaparelli exhibit [about 5 years back] but capucci's art blew my mind!!!!! if youre around philadelphia, the exhibit begins in mid march, definitely go!!!

MY SISTER'S BIRTHDAY

speaking of kendra wilkinson-baskett [her hubby plays for my team], sunday was my sister's birthday and we [along with our brother and our uncle] went to the eagles' home opener to celebrate. like last time the eagles lost but it's always fun to be at the games regardless of the outcome. i do miss mcnabb and westbrook and dawkins and trotter but im still here bleeding green for my team, go birds!!!!!!!!!!!!!! after the game we changed and headed to tequila's [our version of cheers "where everybody knows your name"] which was fitting because my sis lovessss tequila. [how cute does she look making a wish on her eagles cake?]

FASHION'S NIGHT OUT

j and i ventured into the city for the second annual fashion's night out. we met up with my aunt honey and headed straight to barney's for karaoke with the olsen's, liya kebede, and the proenza schouler boys jack and lazaro. unfortunately it was super dooper crowded so we decided to leave. as we were turning to go we noticed a small commotion coming toward us. in the center of it was liya kebede herself, on the way to take a seat with her fellow judges. she was very friendly and posed briefly for j's iphone. the picture [above] shows how close we were to her and its blurriness gives you a sense of the crowd's frenzy. thanks to liya, we werent disappointed as we made our way down to the 4th floor and away from the chaos. the 4th floor [home to the shoe closet of my dreams] was much more low key and i enjoyed browsing the familiar shelves at a new time [it was around 1030 and barneys usually closes at 8]. after i finished flirting with a salesman who remembered me from an earlier trip [because i was asking his opinion on forrest green suede ysl tribute pumps over and over again] we made our way to the basement where j got her makeup done. then we had dinner at the sky bar [sliders and truffle fries] and saw kendra wilkinson-baskett, very random.

10 THINGS

noticed a few blogs with this up so i thought id follow the trend and tell you 10 things you might not know about me:
1. i pride myself on text message wittiness and get great joy out of each response i send [i always laugh at my own jokes]
2. i sleep with a teddy bear that my dad gave me for valentines day when i was like 4
3. i have ocd tendencies [dont we all?]
4. i have legitimate cravings for french fries and chocolate but i could subsist on arugula [with lemon and shaved parmesan] and veuve clicquot rosé alone
5. im really grateful for the life i live and the people who love me
6. my grandmother passed away in march and ive really been struggling with her death. she means the world to me
7. after a certain hour [around 12am] i only watch the food network on tv
8. im addicted to internet shopping [buying and browsing]
9. people compliment me on the length of my hair so much im scared to cut it
10. i always get colds in the summer time [i have what sounds like pneumonia right now]

MARTHA'S VINEYARD

on sunday i returned from our annual vacation in martha's vineyard. there are always the same delights: family, friends, good beach days, kite flying, mudslides at donovan's reef, sunset dinners at nancy's by the dock, lobster dinners from the net result, leftover lobster omelettes the next morning, lobster rolls from the grace church [none of which i eat because im allergic], shopping in oak bluffs, vineyard haven, and edgartown, coffee from beetle bung or mocha motts, seeing hamburger at giordano's, basil lime gimlets, the bet party [dnice is the dj], obama sightings, morning glory farm etc. but two things really set this year's trip apart for me; 1. we got keys to a private beach [the beach was bought by 20 families in 1950 who own it until 2050 - only 20 coveted keys exist and we were blessed to have one for a few weeks] . the beach is beautiful [and empty!] with no rocks [which are typical on vineyard beaches] and there are beautiful views of the aquinnah cliffs. it was so great that upon arrival my sister changed her bbm status to "nirvana" and hasnt changed it since. 2. the fireworks display this year was amazing. literally the best ive ever seen, which is an accomplishment for a small island.

martha's vineyard,
you give me a gift every year! ill miss you. see you next summer
love, lil bits

BACK IN NY!

im back in new york for a summer internship and im loving it! im so happy to be hanging out with my friends in the city again. while back in the city, ive vowed to take advantage of all the art galleries and theaters so last weekend i went to see savion glover at the joyce theatre [it was literally awesome, he moves his feet sooooo fast] and tuesday i went to see the new york city skateboard photography exhibition at the milk gallery, it was opening night so there was an open bar and a lot of people [including cute skaters]

THE FOURTH

i spent the fourth of july in martha's vineyard this year. it was sooo much [maybe too much] fun. so many of my friends were there [including j] and there were ample cookouts and beach parties. the vineyard has such a good vibe, it's so laid back and the same people go every year so it's like a home away from home!

SUMMER

doesnt that picture ooze summer? well the usual summer lull in posts has begun. but here's what ive been up to:
-went to a traditional probate [my friend came out as an AKA]
-went to my buddy ace's fashion show [i posted about his clothing here]
-became addicted to osteria's parma pizza [my sister's friend even made a delicious homemade version for me to devour]
-went to union trust for the first time [delicioso]
-became addicted to the guacamole and queso fundido at stephen starr's new mexican restaurant el rey [ive been doing a lot of eating, clearly]
-went to some graduation parties
-started summer school [as a transfer student, ive learned i have to actively pursue on-time graduation = no days off]
-went to the phillies-red sox game, and although we lost we had the best seats and i enjoyed cracking peanut shells and screaming at the ump
-saw sex and the city 2 [the jury is still out on that one...]
-had a great memorial day weekend, on sunday i went to the beach in margate nj [where my family owned a shore house for most of my childhood] it was soo nostalgic for my sis and i and we had a great time with our friends. on monday i went to a stellar barbq in my friend's backyard in harlem. his dad and his aunt own adjacent browstones and their backyard is such a nice place for summer parties full of grilled food, hipster fashion, and good music
so summer is off to a wonderful start, dont forget to check for updates on sugarshirt as well!

COOKIE DOUGH

just a little something to make you laugh: j and i at the ben and jerry's in the lobby of harrah's casino in atlantic city [we were there for our friend's birthday party]

SNACK BAR

i went to dinner with my sister and her friend teresa a little while ago and forgot to post. we debated over which of our usual favorite restaurants to go to and finally decided to try a new place. the "snack bar" was just the breath of fresh air we needed. the snack bar offers an intimate atmosphere, good food, and an attentive staff. first we cozied up to the bar for drinks while waiting for our table. once seated we were pleasantly surprised by the menu options. though the snack bar has several "snack" options they also have carefully chosen entree options made from seasonal ingredients. I had the beet salad and the mushroom gnocchi but i also shared some cheeses with the girls [a manchego and a triple cream, sooo delicious]. as much as you love your favorite restaurant it is always nice to try a new place!

PROCRASTINATION

although i should be writing a reallllly long paper that is due tomorrow, i am instead searching the web for dessert recipes. How delicious do lucky charms treats sound? [substituting lucky charms cereal for the traditional krispies]

SHAMELESS

vashtie had her birthday dinner at the place where i had my birthday dinner two years ago. i am shamelessly admitting that i feel pretty cool about that hahaha
[i was channeling carrie with my outfit]

BURGERS

there are three new burger restaurants in philadelphia. needless to say i am probably going to gain three pounds as a result. the first place, named 500 degrees, is an offshoot of the popular hotspot rouge [known for their "rouge burger"]. while the burgers served at 500 degrees are considerably smaller than those served at rouge, they are just as delicious. the tiny patties are topped with butter lettuce and tucked between brioche buns. I ordered mine with truffle fries and a black and white milkshake. while 500 degrees takes a rather gourmet approach to fast food, bobby flay's new restaurant "bobby's burger palace" focusses on re-seasoning the old classics. bobby offers large patties oozing cheese on traditional sesame seed buns and allows patrons to choose from revamped condiments like chipotle ketchup. bobby also jazzes up traditional milkshakes by adding alcohol [try the vanilla caramel bourbon]. I havent had a chance to visit stephen starr's square burger yet but im sure it will be just as innovative and delicious as bobby's and 500 degrees.

MILEY

j and i went to see miley cyrus' new movie "the last song" to giggle at miley [we love to hate her] and swoon over her co-star. we didnt expect to cry but we did! looking back i'm a bit embarrassed but it was fun anyway, so go see it. [secret: im considering buying the soundtrack hahahahha]

TACO TUESDAY

lately ive been going to my brother's house every tuesday for tacos and margaritas. i usually spend all of my time with my sister and j but hangin with my bro and his wife is really fun too... plus home cooked food is always a luxury when you're in college.
